WHY FUNDRAISING MATTERS
Your efforts directly support the Alberta Cancer Foundation, bringing more hope to Albertans facing cancer. Most importantly, fundraising is personal. Share your story, let people know who you’re riding for and inspire others to donate.
Your donations stay in Alberta, supporting all cancer centres across the province including the Cross Cancer Institute in Edmonton and the Arthur J.E. Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre in Calgary.
ADVANCING CANCER RESEARCH
The Alberta Cancer Foundation is making Alberta a recognized centre of innovation in cancer research—over 5,500 Albertans have participated in clinical trials over the past 5 years, thanks to funding from Alberta Cancer Foundation and events like the Tour.
PROVIDING FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
Through the Patient Financial Assistance Program, funds from the Tour help patients with everyday expenses like groceries, rent and bills so they can focus on treatment and healing.
SUPPORTING PATIENT NAVIGATORS
Specially trained nurses guide patients through their cancer journey, helping them understand their options and access the care they need.

2. Secure your first donation
A self-donation or an initial contribution from a close friend sets the tone.
3. Make a list
Think of friends, family, coworkers and businesses who might support you.
4. Ask directly
Personal messages are more effective than mass emails.
5. Start early
More time means more opportunities to reach your goal.
6. Follow up
People may forget, and a friendly reminder helps!
7. Get social
Share your fundraising link on social media, post updates and tag supporters.
8. Follow-up
You can gently remind people to support you by keeping them updated on where you are with training or fundraising. A story about training and sore muscles can go a long way.
9. Host a mini-event
Plan a bake sale, garage sale or charity workout to boost donations.
10. Say thank you
Recognize your donors and let them know their impact.
